IDENER on behalf of SCRREEN project in Raw Materials Week 2018!
The third edition of the Raw Materials Week took place in Brussels from 12 – 16 November 2018. It was a good opportunity for the raw materials community to discuss and exchange on all relevant issues: policy, technology, international cooperation, framework conditions, etc.
The event was divided into several sessions. Thursday 15th was dedicated first to Drivers and Solutions for Integrating Information in the EU Raw Materials Knowledge Base. In this field, one of the speakers was María González-Moya from IDENER, which gave a presentation on behalf of SCRREEN EU project, about how the SCRREEN project is feeding the current criticality assessment with EU-based industry data.
First of all, our colleague remarked the importance of the EU industry data for the assessment of critical raw materials: critical raw materials are important as are used by EU industries to make products that maintain our quality of life and society development, so it is vital to assess correctly what are the needs of the industry in terms of technology gaps, policy gaps, metal substitution, etc.
Secondly, the speaker explained how SCRREEN is gathering this data, where the more important tool is the workshops organised by the project, and what the consortium does to summarise this data and make the project deliverables.
Lastly, the applications that are being built for presenting the project results were shown to the public.
The event was a nice point of discussion about the importance of having reliable and accurate data both from industry and official data.
