HIVEMIND kicks-off to advance AI-powered human-centric software development

IDENER.AI is excited to announce the commencement of the HIVEMIND project, a strategic initiative set to revolutionize software engineering through the power of artificial intelligence. Funded by the Horizon Europe programme, HIVEMIND—which stands for Human-centred collaboratIVE MultI-ageNt framework for accelerating software Development and maintenance—is a collaboration between experts from academia, industry, and research institutions.

The project is coordinated by Daniel Garcia and Santiago Massé from Idener.AI, who bring a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the forefront of this innovative endeavor. HIVEMIND aims to develop a responsible and human-centric approach to AI-driven software engineering that will significantly expedite the entire software development lifecycle.

At the core of the project lies an advanced LLM-based multi-agent framework designed to enhance the collaboration between human developers and AI agents. These AI agents will be specialized to support various roles within a software development team. To enable this, a range of sophisticated AI techniques will be employed, including fine-tuning with organizational data, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, and human-in-the-loop machine learning.

HIVEMIND’s framework promises to improve the efficiency of processes such as smart system specification, agile modeling, and automated requirement derivation. This, in turn, aims to reduce the need for late-stage modifications and improve the consistency in software design.

Furthermore, the project will pioneer design-by-contract programming at all integration levels, empowering AI agents to assist in code development, analysis, verification, and testing, all while maintaining a deep understanding of the context they operate within.

Beyond the initial phases of development, HIVEMIND will also focus on providing robust support for the dynamic maintenance of multi-architecture systems, ensuring sustainability and adaptability for the long term.

The kickoff of the HIVEMIND project marks an exciting milestone in the field of AI and software engineering. With the leadership of Daniel Garcia and Santiago Massé, Idener.AI is set to lead the charge towards a more efficient, innovative, and human-centered future in software development.
